And that is what Prince Alfonso Holenlohe (the godson of Alfonso XIII) thought when he arrived in the city in 1947 and bought an estate next to the beach. It would later become one of the most emblematic international hotels.
The hotel opened in April 1954, with only 20 rooms, 1 bar and 1 restaurant.

An expansion took place at Christmas 1956, coinciding with the arrival of Count Rudi, who fell in love with what he saw and proposed to Prince Alfonso that they join forces to take the Marbella Club to the top of the international hotel business.
Together, in 1960. They inaugurated what was to be the new phase of the Hotel, with an extension that would have a reception, more rooms and a beach club for the first time.
