Where to play golf in Marbella?

It will come as no surprise that the Costa del Sol is known as the Costa del Golf, with over 70 golf courses in the region. There are a number of very good reasons why this is such a perfect area for golfers: the climate is ideal, with over 300 sunny days a year and a warm, temperate winter which means that when many keen golfers in Northern Europe are scraping ice from their golf clubs, their counterparts here are able to play in ideal conditions right through the year.
The climate alone is not the only draw however – the terrain is also ideal, with gently undulating, tree-lined fairways that also boast spectacular views to the mountains and sea. For golfers in Marbella, there are many great courses from which to choose.
Perhaps the most famous part of Marbella for golfers is the Golf Valley of Nueva Andalucía. This urbanisation is a golf-lover’s dream, with three top class courses within five minutes of each other:
Los Naranjos Golf Club is one of the best regarded of the Marbella courses. Open since 1977, it is one of the Robert Trent Sr. designed courses in the area, presenting 70 hectares of green fairways with a river running through the course and the orange trees for which it is named.
Real Club de las Brisas, also a Robert Trent Sr. course, it is located near Los Naranjos and comes with the royal seal of approval! The beautiful course has several water obstacles, with ten artificial lakes fed by two streams.
Aloha Golf Club is the third of the courses that make up Golf Valley and one of the most prestigious and best established of the Costa del Sol clubs. The course is beautifully landscaped with trees to provide colour and interest year-round, while the stunning views of La Concha and the Mediterranean sea complete the picture.
La Quinta Golf and Country Club is a 27-hole course designed by three-time World Champion and Ryder Cup champion Manuel Piñero. One of the most attractive clubs in the area, this course is actually made up of three nine hole courses and provides challenges for beginners and more advanced players alike, as it winds its way through spectacular scenery.
Marbella Golf and Country Club is located just five minutes from the centre of Marbella and is another course designed by legendary course designer Robert Trent Jones Sr. A challenging course with fabulous views at every turn, it is one of the most famous of the Marbella clubs and features a popular club house with stunning views of olive groves, the surrounding mountains and the sea.
