Marbella’s Golf Valley, located in Nueva Andalucía, is a popular year-round residential location for golfers and non-golfers alike. While its appeal to the worshippers of greens and fairways is clearcut, its convenient position close to schools, restaurants, banks, offices and, of course, Puerto Banús and Marbella have long since sealed the Golf Valley as a prime Marbella real estate location.
Originally, ‘Golf Valley’ was the name given to the area surrounding Real Las Brisas Golf, Club de Golf Aloha and Los Naranjos Golf, although in recent years it has often been stretched to incorporate some of the neighbouring Marbella courses. It was developed specifically to provide a residential area for golfers to live, while enjoying high quality club conditions and sporting facilities right on their doorstep.
The first of the three courses to open in 1968 was Real Las Brisas Golf (then Club de Golf Nueva Andalucía), which was created by D. José Banús (of Puerto Banús fame) and designed by world renowned golf architect Robert Trent Jones. Aloha Golf followed and was run by the Banco de Bilbao while they developed several of the local residential property complexes. Finally, Los Naranjos Golf was then created on the land adjacent to Las Brisas and completed the trio of courses.
To encourage both residential and leisure golfers, the Golf Valley has been designed to attract many different types of property owners. Large mansions lining the fairways coexist amongst smart townhouse developments and low density apartment complexes, ensuring variety and diversity but, most importantly, a range of properties to suit the requirements of second (holiday) home owners as well as those looking to establish a permanent home in Nueva Andalucía. Many urbanisations are gated, ideal for those seeking a lock up and leave secure base in Marbella, and some feature concierge services to make owners’ lives just that little bit simpler.
Thanks to its elevated position, many properties in the Golf Valley benefit from commanding views across golf fairways and over to the Mediterranean or across to Marbella’s iconic La Concha mountain. Since the first properties were built in the 70s, architectural styles have become more and more varied and this is wonderfully reflected in Nueva Andalucía properties, where traditional cortijo estates share boundaries with contemporary villas flooded with light thanks to their glass-centric design.
Numerous international tournaments such as the Spanish Open, World Golf Cup, King and Queen’s International Cup, and Nations’ Cup have been played in the Golf Valley but far from being only about golf, the valley is home to other great sports facilities including a multisports centre, tennis courts and gymnasiums, as well as a superb variety of restaurants featuring different cuisines and dining styles.
The Golf Valley’s unbeatable location continues to entice international families making their homes in Marbella. For more information on the Golf Valley and properties available to buy there, please contact the local experts at Pure Living Properties.Javier Nieto · September 25th 2017
